Foxtail Fern Kokedama — Handmade Japanese Moss Ball Planter

Regular price $65.00

A living sculpture for your shelf, table, or sunny windowsill. Each foxtail fern kokedama is hand-wrapped in our Tennessee studio using preserved moss, natural twine, and a healthy, nursery-grown Asparagus densiflorus 'Myers' — the soft, feathery fern that fans out like a green firework.

Kokedama (Japanese for "moss ball") is the centuries-old art of growing a plant in a sphere of soil and moss instead of a pot. The result is a quietly beautiful, sculptural houseplant that feels equal parts wabi-sabi and modern minimalist.

What you get

  • One handcrafted foxtail fern kokedama, approximately 4–5" in diameter at the moss ball, with foliage reaching 8–12" tall
  • Each one is genuinely one-of-a-kind — moss patterns and fern shape vary
  • Care card with watering and light instructions
  • Free shipping, packaged to arrive safely

Why foxtail fern?
Unlike most ferns, the foxtail is forgiving. It tolerates lower humidity, handles a missed watering, and actually likes bright light — making it one of the easiest "fern" varieties for real-life homes.

Light: Bright, indirect light. A few hours of gentle morning sun is welcome.
Water: Soak the moss ball in room-temperature water for 10–15 minutes when it feels light and dry to the touch — typically every 7–10 days. Let it drip dry before returning to its display dish.
Display: Beautiful on a small saucer, in a shallow bowl, or hung from natural twine.

Handmade in small batches in Tennessee. If your kokedama arrives damaged, we'll make it right.
